“Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.” (Colossians 2:16-17 ESV)

 

1. Shadows are temporary.

2. Jesus Christ is Eternal.

3. Dangers of chasing the shadows.

      *Performance-based religion creates a pious attitude, but a Grace-based relationship creates a humble attitude.

      *Performance-based religion focuses on outward appearance, but a Grace-based relationship focuses on the heart.

      *Performance-based religion puts up barriers, but a Grace-based relationship tears down barriers.

      *Performance-based religion emphasizes self-righteousness, but a Grace-based relationship emphasizes Christ’s righteousness.

      *Performance-based religion frustrates, but a Grace-based relationship liberates.
